The practitioner should idealize and feel this energy extending into the Earth (as an anchor), and the surrounding “wei qi” field increasing and expanding [6]. The major subproduct of burning moxa is smoke, and its security is still under debate. Studies using solid-phase microextraction gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (SPME-GC-MS) have shown that moxa smoke is composed of furan-structure substances, aromatic compounds, esters, alkanes, and hydroxyl-containing compounds [135]. Although these compounds’ toxicity represents a concern, moxibustion has been considered minimally toxic, safe and effective, with few adverse events [142]. Research has shown that no harmful effects of moxa smoke have been noticed on the heart rate (HR) and heart rate variability (HRV) of treated persons.
Our practitioners, Dr. Meredith O’Loughlan (CMD) and Dr. Linghan Bai (MD) have special interests in areas of fertility, women’s health, digestive, autoimmune disease and pain management. In this session, Meredith introduces a new way of understanding how to create health & wellbeing by uncovering your unique BioPattern and reconnecting with your  body’s innate intelligence. Blending Western science with Eastern wisdom, her work empowers lasting, inside-out change, informed by her own journey of living well with Multiple Sclerosis for 25 years, drug free. The “White Ball” is one specific type of “Qigong” similar Acupuncture for Bell's Palsy to the “Zhan Zhuang” system. Children quickly learn this system when enrolled in a formal training program, with evident development of their individual vegetative skills and reduced anxiety-induced effects [187,188,194]. It seems that positive vegetative changes in the behavioral pattern appear to be naturally available on-demand in critical stressful situations as a part of the child’s reactive behavioral repertoire [187].

Whereas acupuncture excels in moving qi and blood, the daily use of herbs provides the nutrition (yin) and energy (qi) to support the move toward flowing balance of a healthier systems response between acupuncture treatments. Consider that herbal medicines are nature’s reprogrammers of the body-mind connection. These findings support the potential safety and effectiveness of EATM as an adjunct to fertility treatment. Endometriosis causes significant pain and fertility burden to women and greatly reduces their quality of life (36). Currently, traditional laparoscopic surgery and hormonal treatments are widely used, but they suffer from high recurrence rates and obvious side effects (37).
The definition changes as doctors test and move more of them into the mainstream. Farzaneh Ghaffari has over 17 years experience as a Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioner with a degree in Chinese Medicine from RMIT in Melbourne and a 1 year clinical internship in Nanjing, China. Treatment aims to clear these blockages through opening up the meridians, allowing Qi to flow freely once more and restoring wellness. That said, integrating a handful of these into your routine may have solid benefits to your health. There’s a reason some of these have been around for thousands of years, after all.

As a standalone technique, “Tuina” seems to reduce diarrhea frequency in children aged 0–6 years, compared with sham [171]. How the process of pain relief is accomplished through acupuncture is not clear-cut, but many science-based theories do exist. The neurophysiological mechanisms by which acupuncture exerts its effects are complex and still under debate. From a Western perspective, acupuncture can be characterized by its  effects on the central and peripheral nervous systems. Increased vagal stimulation by acupuncture may also initiate the fast “neural” and slow “diffusible” components of the cholinergic anti-inflammatory pathway.
It is important to note that acupuncture is generally safe when performed by a trained and licensed practitioner. The needles used are sterile and disposable, minimizing the risk of infection. However, it is essential to seek treatment from a qualified acupuncturist who has undergone proper training and certification. I warmly invite you to experience the benefits of Acupuncture and Laser Acupuncture for yourself. Whether you are looking for relief, recovery, or simply a healthier and more balanced life, I would be honoured to be part of your healthcare journey.

In Chinese medicine, constipation is often linked to problems with the Spleen and Large Intestine meridians. Acupuncture can help stimulate the digestive system, regulate bowel movements, and relieve constipation by targeting points along the Stomach, Large Intestine, and Spleen meridians. Common herbal remedies for constipation include senna, raspberry leaf, and cascara sagrada, which are used to promote bowel movements, strengthen the digestive system, and improve overall gut health. Acne can be caused by excess heat, dampness, or hormonal imbalances in the body. Acupuncture can address these underlying issues by targeting specific points to clear heat, improve blood circulation, and regulate hormones.

Most colleges require students to have a bachelor’s degree before entering a master’s program. But at SCU, if you have just 48+ credits, you may enter our Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences with a concentration in Eastern Medicine, and then transfer directly into the master’s program. Acupuncture treatments involve stimulating specific lines, acupuncture points or neural zones on or under the skin’s surface. Kaitlin is a qualified History and Economics teacher and has taught Eastern Medicine and Acupuncture related seminars, workshops and lectures since 2011. Since 2009, Kaitlin has worked for an industry partner to the natural therapies and acupuncture profession providing clinical and administrative support to practitioners during that time. She has also worked in financial regulatory environments and in health research.

But since remedies are individualized for each patient, it’s difficult to examine effectiveness. Patients work  with a biofeedback therapist to learn these relaxation techniques and mental exercises. In initial sessions, electrodes are attached to the skin to measure bodily states, but eventually the techniques can be practiced without a therapist or equipment. Proponents of the therapy cite findings that mineral water might boost people’s immune systems or aid arthritis, but so far that research remains inconclusive. Acupressure is thought to relieve blockages so energy can flow freely again, restoring wellness. More research is needed, but a handful of studies have found positive results.
Cupping is used to move stagnant blood out of deep bruises by bloodletting, and reduce swelling and pain in sprains. Cupping can be done by heating the air within the cupping glass and then putting the cupping glass on the skin. Cooling the air by clapping the cup over the affected area  exerts mild suction. The pull exerted pushes the flesh into the cup, mobilizing body fluids into the area [64].
Our study provides a systematic assessment of the effectiveness of CHM combined with acupuncture for the treatment of dysmenorrhea in endometriosis, but there are still limitations. First, the small sample size of the included RCT studies may undermine the reliability of the results. Second, most of the included studies did not mention the implementation of allocation concealment and blinding, which may overestimate the treatment benefit. In addition to this, the CHM symptom score and quality of life scale used inconsistent criteria for evaluating efficacy across studies.
